Mattawan Little League

Challenger Division

Mattawan Little League’s Challenger Division provides opportunities for boys and girls with physical and developmental challenges from the ages of 5 to 26 to participate in Little League.

There is no charge to participate and each player will receive a uniform (t-shirt and cap). Games are played on Monday nights from 6:00 to 7:15. We do not keep score and we do not call balls and strikes. Every player bats and plays the field. Our emphasis is on having fun and teaching the fundamentals of baseball along with teamwork. We try to have buddies for each child who needs one and we encourage the parents to sit in the stands and cheer on the players.

The Mattawan Challenger Division hosts a Challenger Jamboree on the second Saturday in June with teams from Mattawan, Dowagiac, Kalamazoo, Vicksburg and Coloma attending. We have mascots from the local community and lots of fun things for the kids to do and each player gets a free lunch. Our goal is to include more teams in the future.

If you are interested in having your child participate or you know a child who would benefit from this program please contact Steve Thomas via email at thomaspawpaw@comcast.net or call or text to 269-532-2934.

We are always looking for volunteers and sponsors. Come out and attend a game or be a buddy on the field to one of our players. You can come by yourself or bring a group from work or an organization. You will meet a great group of kids, make a new friend and put a smile on one of our players.
